Treatments for bone cancer

Bone cancer and treatments are based on the diagnosis. Here are some of the treatments for bone cancer:

  • Surgery is one the best ways to treat this cancer. The whole tumour section id removed completely during the surgery.
  • Chemotherapy and radiation therapy: chemotherapy is employed before the surgery to reduce the size of a tumour so that it becomes easy to carry out the surgery. However, if the traces are left even after the surgery, then the same method can be used to remove the cancer cells permanently. Similarly, radiation therapy is also preferred where high energy X-rays are employed. The X-ray radiations are exposed to the affected area in the body and kill the cancer cells.
  • Alternative methods that can be used to cure bone cancer are acupuncture, massage therapy, herbal products, vitamins and a special diet, meditation and spiritual healing.

Bone cancers if diagnosed early can be effectively treated. Thus, ensure that you get yourself diagnosed at the very first sign of continuous pain in your bones that is deep, gets worse with time and does not subside with normal medication.
